I'm in.

I said I'd never do it again. But three things.

1) naomi bet me I'd do it again, and I can occasionally be a graceful loser. So I have to take us out for a substantial meal. Any excuse eh?

2) Owen Jones. Lifelong mate, bone marrow cancer, dead. Damn good reason.

3)because it really fucking matters. Cancer Research,  like so many other charities,  has taken a financial dive this year so more than ever funds are needed to save lives.

So when the books open I'm on it like a plate tectonic. Ner.

Be damn good to catch up again...

Anyway, I only started this so others can chip in with their bike threads - @Herr V., @Thunderbolt, @HOGG, errr, anyone else. Get busy people!😛

Once collected, I'll post the progress of the motorcycle 😉

Nicely. One of the very best parts of LDD wasn't the event but the build threads of wierd and wonderful fukked up bikes, and subsequent inflatable crocadiles. Start a thread here rather than in the bikes section?

here's a fine example of one man's experience of doing the event and then writing about it - step right up @jaycee!

The above is why you shouldn't take it too easily. My lack of pace early on just kept adding up. I also spent too much time stationary.

If I was to ever do this again, I would have mega lighting and something with a good tank range. The XJ was flooding it's carbs and probably 10% of the fuel came out unburnt .

Actually, a sorted ( mine wasn't at all) XJ would be good. It was comfy, had a big tank and a respectable turn of speed.

@MadManMiles is a perennial favourite - served him well, let @PBChris down through rust etc but staged a brilliant recovery for Simon Lee who promptly handed me my arse from loch lomond onwards last year, the bastard!

Fuck that!

I'm gunning to finish the jigsaw bike and make it decent. I'd just quietly say if I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have bought it, but starting from scratch again...

Otherwise...😂😂😂

'Kin epic sir

I foresee your arrival at LE on the 996

If you get that to LE under it's own steam (could be the best option) I'll throw you another £50

Somehow this has been lost in translation? I'd explained that the guzzi was a derelict wreck at tintagel but the message didn't go up. It's horrible and will never ever ever run again ever. I'd have it as a garden ornament to scare crows but it's no longer a motorbike!

This, disturbingly,  is the thing I'm aiming to use...but it's a lot more shite than I thought when I bought it.

I had had it running with plenty of fresh fuel and the engine is sweet.

Coolant system needs a damn good flush and all fluids changed as a minimum.

It is the perfect bike for the job, make it happen
