I've dropped you a message John asking if I can be included. I've said yes to the GPZ500 in the bikes for sale section but if the event is already full I'll step aside so another forum member can take the bike.

2022 already? I think it's about time I bloody well did this myself.

Apparently my brother has a spectacularly bad VT500 Custom that he no longer wants, and I sense a sub £300 snaffle is very very possible (He once sold me a CB200 for £12.50)

How do I officially throw my hat into the ring of consideration for this year's event? Is there space or are we all buttoned up already?

Regardless of if I make it in or not, you can have free visor cleaners all round.

Oooooh.....visor cleaners that repel midges?

Step into my Scotland sized office and join the mob...

Signing up? Have a look at that email that @johnnymack63 posted or ping him a message directly?

Just did that very thing!

As for visor cleaners that repel midges, sounds like a black-art to me. However, my V2 Sponge is beautifully optimised to deal with post-midge impact phase of the "ride/splat/need to clean" cycle.

Sounds great. Some of us were actually midge blinded this year - so many of the bastards that we literally couldn't see the road.

Haaaaa! I was at the front of a ldu roadtrain getting slower by the minute as the road just slowly disappeared,  then I rounded a hill into the setting sun and simply has to stop. Gnash!

We sort of avoided the setting sun by the time we got into mossie country.

Stopping at the roadworks and traffic lights and getting eaten alive was a high point though 😁

Good times 😍

Would so love to do it this year, but it's off the table for a bit.  The zzr is quietly waiting though... 😉

Yes, we all had to....well, that one time anyway...

We don't mention the other times...or the advisory 20mph limit on loose chippings taken at 80+ *

*er, I made that up officer.

Ah.

The bit where the road was closed and they were escorting traffic up in either direction.

Hi all, I only came across the LDC after the 2021 had already taken place (Bennetts video on the YouTubes). I have put my name forward for the 2022 run but am a little worried by the limited 35 participant number. There's a lot of chat on here by previous participants and, seemingly, an assumption of acceptance onto the 2022 run... How many people typically put their name forward each year (meaning how likely are you to be able to partake)? Here's hoping...

just throw your hat in the ring and go for it. If you're in then get some suitable wreck and regale us with tales of restoration & violence here? Best of luck!

I fancy doing this again (t'will be my third, after 2013 & 2016).  On the look-out for a suitably ridiculous bike; sadly my CX500 is worth far too much to be eligible and although my Vespa qualifies (it was free), it only does about 50 and it would take me until June '23 to finish.  See you on the start line, mofos.

@johnnymack63 our imperious leader, has said that he will give preference to first timers, so you will be in the first pick.

If I don’t get in, then I will offer to help, either at a Pitstop or in any other way that I can.

Going to sit 2022 out and man a pit stop this year if I can 😊

My aim is to do 2023 when the Doris is a little more open to me coming home a physical and mental wreak with numb hands, feet and not being able to put out for a week.

Plus, I get time to do upgrades on the mighty zzr.

Get your name in there😁

Happy to do another pit stop this time around and possibly do the run in 2023 with something suitably hideous.

On the grounds that I need to pick up and load a van for exhibiting at the ABR festival on the day I am riding back so unless I can buy or borrow  van to load before heading off I won't be able to make it but there is always hope.

Hi Jig, as James says, JM will rightly give preference to new riders, then you should have a good chance.

None of us are assuming anything about riding, but we all love it, so are always enthusiastic!

As the goal is to raise as much as is possible each year, it is a sensible policy to get new riders in. New riders can often have a good draw on their friends and family for fundraising.

Good luck and hopefully see you in Land's End!
