My forever bike - MK2 RS250

Thought I'd add to this. Back in the late 90s when I was a late teen passing my bike test I always wanted one of these having owned the smaller version on my CBT but with various reasons I bought bigger bikes.

Fast forward over 20 years and I see for sale a 10,000 mile MK2 RS with the digital dash and fairly stock barring the exhaust (was sold it with the originals too).

Had sat a long time and initially had a few issues but got a specialist help (Richard Rogers) and got it running brilliantly.

Went through as much as I could, brakes, pads, fluids, battery, oils, filter all liquids etc finding things like the battery being the original and in a sorry state but everything freshened barring suspension which will be my next job.

Ridden it about 1000 road miles and a couple of track days

My first time I rode it on track second session it blew it's base gasket down the back straight and very nearly had me off at cadwell. Lesson learnt don't rush these things get it right before thrashing!

Video here;

Did a few laps at Doni after this with 2nd gear going and needing a rebuild.

Then did a 2t Moto Mafia track day at Mallory and first full day with no issues and a really solid feeling bike.

Video here;

I don't think I'll ever sell it and although it has a few small marks is really clean for something made in the late 1990s

Wow, looks stunning.

Like you, if I had the opportunity my dream bike of the era would be the RGV250 ‘Pepsi’ painted bike. 😁

Great little bike. I’ve  had a couple of these for racing in the Danish and Scandinavian 250 Production Championship.
