How to check your dealer coupler connection on your TL1000.

The dealer coupler is located under the left hand subframe when you remove your rear seat hump (TLR) or right hand side (TLS).

The ECM on Suzuki fuel injection motorcycles has a self diagnostic function which will hold an ECM trouble code in memory once there is a problem with your bike.

When the dealer coupler is shorted the ECM code will display in the LCD window on your rev counter effectively giving you a big hint as to where your problem lies.

Firstly remove your hump. Or better still get your daughter to do it for you...

Next step is to find the connector block... Again having smaller fingers helps...

The block itself shouldn't take too much finding. It's quite large and is capped off.

This is what your looking for...

With the rubber cap removed you will see that only 2 of the blocks pins are in use. These 2 pins are what you will need to short to get the error code to display on your LCD window.

The best and cheapest method for shorting these 2 pins is to use a paperclip. With the paper clip inserted make sure it doesnt touch the frame! (Please remember to wash unwanted digestive biscuit crumbs off your hands first.)

The next step is to turn the ignition on and check the codes displayed. Sitting on the tank is not recomended if your over 3' tall.
