Need to get this bar end off, so I can get a lever guard on :

Mmm, yeah, it's a bit out of focus, that. What we've got there is a mashed allen hole*. Can't get a key in there*, or get any purchase. What can I doooo? Cut a big slot in it? Try and wrap something tight around it*?

The aid of the PBE massive is appreciated

I would be drilling that.

Start small and work up on size.

Left Handed drill bits if you have them.

It's probably worth me re-sharing these, btw :

Seriously it isn’t that hard.

+1 for the sacrificial torx bit. If that fails & the buggered hex socket is in the bar end itself rather than a bolt through it, then mole grips & if needs be, a short sharp application of one of Hawkati's force multipliers.

Well at least we have an answer to the question 'What would Jesus do if someone gave him a Benley 200?'

I would go as large as possible on the torq bit, smaller ones or hex that will nearly fit that hole will possibly just round off in that soft Ali,, drill it larger,, give it few smacks to help first, hammer the bigger torq in, then put it on an impact driver and heavy hammer...

Are you sure it's an allen screw and not a JIS crosshead?

If it's a crosshead, digging about with a pick might clear the slots enough to get a screwdriver in.

If it is an allen, it might just be bruised around the end and a quick clean with a drill* might reveal a decent hex.

* An allen screw may need a dremel with a die grinder to clear the hole if it's a hard screw.

Will a mole grip get on it? I take it they arnt held in by a rubber plug.

Possibly. I don't think I've got a set of mole grips. That is to say I *might* have some, but I don't know where they are right now

Just catching up on other posts, I see you're talking about an NSR250, is this it?

If so, I don't think the bar end is a separate item, it's an integral part of the actual clip-on.

If that's the case, what is the left bar look like as should be the same?

I've had a look on these internet's for a guard that attaches to the fork end of the bar instead of the end, but can't find one. Bollocks.

By what date do you need it sorting?

What I am suggesting is that you send me the clip-on (or buy a spare, such as the eBay item linked above by Pat) and I'll remove the existing bar-end and make a new aluminium plug for the end which protrudes out more than the 14mm you need in order to fit the STP lever guard you found.
