Rivets for silencer

Can anyone suggest what type of rivets I would need to refit the end cap on a stainless (inox?) Remus silencer?

I'm planning surgery to reduce the length by about a third cos its like a fucking didgeridoo at the mo. This means sawing a lump off and drilling out existing rivets.

Don't have a clue what type of rivets to buy for rebuild.

I've heard golden rivets are nice?

I posted some to @jaycee many moons ago and he didn't use them, maybe he could forward them on ?

Ummm.

They should be in the garage.

Somewhere.

If they are, I'll do that very thing

Fuck me to you keep a journal of your unused rivets and their geographical location?

I've ordered some but thank you. I'll make sure to geo-tag any unused ones, just in case

If it's the right can for the bike then chopping a 3rd off the can will change the tuned length, ideally you move the can back so it stays the same and doesnt screw the low midrange up.

If you use aluminium rivets they wont last long.

If you use stainless steel ones, what you should use, you'll need forearms like popeye to pull them up with a handriveter.

I'd leave well alone, it'll end up mind numbingly loud and wont quite run aswell as it used to.

Thanks guys, didn't realise it would affect it.

Only wanted to chop a third off, it's stupidly long.

Good excuse to buy something better

Nothing interesting, just an old but very well looked after BMW K1200S with a huge remus can. My daughter is now old enough to ride pillion so we're having some great days out, it's literally a dream come true for me, especially when she yells "Faster!" :)
