zxrob
Hi folks Doing the valve clearances , 05 zx6r, some shims need changing, done it before on my old zx6r, same principal, however, put t all back together, lined the cam marks up, fired it up and it rattles like holy fook, and when you rev it, it revs slightly, then cuts out, have I some how managed to get the timing out. I have got everything off again now down to the cams, they are still in place, I have noticed that the pins on the chain dont line up where they should according to the manual, any advice Cheers Rob
wavey
Was it still at TDC when you refitted the cams? Easy enough to get it wrong but there is definitely something wrong so strip it out again and re check everything including the clearances in case one of the shims isn't sat right

Doomkinder
My b1 was getting really noisy, the cam chain was a bit loose and the tensioner had released onto the next ratchet tooth. You probably know this but if you undo the top mounting bolt a decent way and then wind out the bottom one very carefully until it clicks just once it should do its job again. Made mine nice and quiet again.
coombehouse
After you put the cams & tensioner in, it's a good idea to wind the motor over by hand a few revolutions & check that everything still lines up correctly.
zxrob
Just an update folks All back together and running fine, I think I must not have got the chain taught on the exhaust side and it skipped a tooth when I first put it back together, thanks for your input guys Rob
