Dent in Frame?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So I have been offered a '98 ZZR1100 which has been sat in a garage for at least 2 years. It's almost complete and needs some work but its ridiculously cheap! Went to have a look and noticed this dent in the frame. Should I be concerned and walk away or get it fixed and crack on ? Thoughts / wisdom appreciated.18072020121606.jpeg.9e6afbff39e47d0c663272b39ef4b264.jpeg18072020121448.jpeg.1fab657e36426a03b007dba59f21b07b.jpeg

Buy it that’ll steam out.

Running, MoT’d ZZRs are so cheap it’s not worth stripping and repairing.

If it’s sub-£250 it might be worth a punt, if you can find another one with a bolloxed engine. You’d probably make most of your purchase back with sales of the unwanted parts.

Don’t buy it, I’m getting confused with Welsh dressers. (Not to be further confused with Barry the Welsh xdresser )

It's £120 so worth a punt?

If the engine runs, it's got to be worth more than that as spares?

If it runs then definitely, thought it’s a spares machine or find another frame for it.

For £120, buy it.

That dent will pull out.

That's what I was thinking as the frame is straight on inside face.

Any recommendation on who could do that?

Any decent fabricator.

Where abouts are you?

£120. Buy it. throw bodywork away. fit 7" single headlight and  zx7r single seat unit. Paint the whole thing  with a bucket and yard broom. Replace now painted tyres with something sticky.

Rag the arse of it knowing it owes you less than a night out on the piss.

There are hundreds of good fabricators in and around Brum. It was the heart of the British automotive industry.

Where is @involute’s place? @2moto’s

There was a place in Coventry south near the NMM.

Both oop north.

That seems to be common damage looking on ebay at zzr1100 frames.

Not sure if there's enough thread in the fairing mount to screw a slide hammer into, to then pull the dent out.

I would say the damage would have any material effect on the frames performance.

Buy and enjoy it as a bargain rocket ship.

If they're still there then that's 20 mins away on the M42

The plan was to get it so the other half can come along too as I've still got the Wu Tang Ninja zx7r which has single seat

Just ask around.

When I worked at RR Ansty, there were lots of helpful people there.

Cool. It's absolute bargain. I keep seeing cheapish examples on ebay, but have resisted buying one to see how much weight I could shed.

£120 is too cheap to resist.
