fastfreddybikes Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 So you are suggesting young Simon buys a scabby ex racer? Are you sure your earth crushing antics haven’t damaged your noodle? 1 Quote
Alex_H Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 No experience with triumphs, but if you suspect a battery drain, find someone with a multimeter, stick it on amps, pull a fuse and put the leads in place of the fuse. If there's a draw on that particular circuit then you'll see it on the meter. It's not the only way to find any trouble but its a quick start. Also once you've got your mate with the meter, check the voltage output of your new regulator, make sure it really is charging. I'd do this first really. 1 Quote
jaycee Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 Triumph? Does it have the factory fit alarm/immobiliser? If so, it is a Datatool and is the spawn of Satan, that would be my first port of call. I had similar on my 97 Speed Triple. Buy the bypass plug from Triumph, it genuinely just plugs into the loom and can be bypassed. 1 Quote
simon young Posted May 16, 2020 Author Report Posted May 16, 2020 thanks for the replys fellers it has no alarm I will get a meter on it cheers Quote
gurninman Posted May 17, 2020 Report Posted May 17, 2020 It's worth checking the stator output to see if you're getting any juice to the reg/rec in the first place. You should get about the same voltage on each phase. Also wire the reg/ rec direct to the battery - there's plenty of threads about this on Trumpet forums Quote
Evilchicken0 Posted May 17, 2020 Report Posted May 17, 2020 Sounds like it's no charging. It could be the wires are a bit fried changing the resistance or maybe the alternator is a bit duff so not charging enough ... or it could be a combination of all of these knocking out the new bit that you put on .... although that's usually a honda problem Quote
