awood12345
Hi, I've seen this tank on another forum. Its and old yamaha one but can't for the life of me figure out what one. Ignore the frame in the pic as thats a RD250 special. I'm building a RD250 aswell but can't afford a £200+ TZ tank so I need to figure out what this is. Note the star shape raised fuel cap and the strange lug on the back. Cheers, Alan
Crofty
I'm guesssing the lug of for a restraining strap?? Holds the back of the tank down to the frame? May give a clue to its ID?
awood12345
Hi Crofty, that is what I'm thinking aswell. It must be significant but probably only significant to a few people. I'm hoping one of them is on here.
morepower
Looks like a Yamaha TZ 250/350 D tank.
levo
The cap looks like a rd lc cap.................here
awood12345
I was hoping it wasn't a TZ tank as that means more money, but I think you may be right. The off center filler I probably a good sign its a racer. I can't find a great picture of a D although is seems to be damn close but the cutouts for the knee is different. It may be a variation based on the same theme as we all know racers modify things. Cheers.

awood12345
Now that picture looks correct. Spot on, the knowledge of the PB forum amazes me. Downside, I'll never find one of those cheap.
