vtrkarl
done the front brakes on the r1 and the pad wear was very uneven...3 pads were pretty equal and only about 1/4 worn and the outside right pad was worn below half...now is this normal or is there a problem im not aware of?..also is most of my braking being done on right disc...any ideas
kwakbiker
Any sign of sticky pistons on the right caliper, could be the reason
vtrkarl
none i could push all 4 pistons back and as i push one side opposite side moves so thats fine...
VeeTeeArr
As above, sticky pistons or pads sticking in the calipers or on holding pins. Could the disc surface or pad that hasn't worn have been contaminated? (brake fluid, grease, polish)
bignige
is this the first set of pads YOU have fitted? if not maybe the last owner was a nob and fitted any old r1 pad he could find?
vtrkarl
all four pads are eqaul in colour and texture...not shiny or contaminated best i can tell... yes these are the first pads ive fitted and i can say there has been no worry in braking at all...no noises pulses or any other thing that might suggest break problem....only changed them ready for new season and last mot chap said theyll need doing soon... kwakbiker
Well id be tempted to give them a bleed through and the pistons a quick clean and recheck in 500 miles or so for any sign of wear patterns on the new pads. Could be like has been said theyre just sticking the one side on the pad pins
