Liamo
as above my kx is burning gear oil and giving me white smoke, is this a failed seal somewhere, easy fix or not? cheers Sounds like a crank seal, which would be an engine out job. Liamo
is it an easy job? just had the engne out after having the frame re-done! I dont think its a difficult job if you have the patience and right tools, but I think its probably quite time consuming.

laney
If it was white smoke, would that mean its water,or does the gear oil keep running low?
addiction269
the gear oil keeps running low, almost instantly, and lots of oil running through the exhaust. having looked at it, its an easy enough job but i cant justify anymore money being spent! not right now anyways, if it doesnt go ill keep it and get it done sometime! Gregorious77
Get it done as soon as coz the gearbox oil will fuck the cylinder due to all the clutch particals in it. The crank seal can be done without splitting the cases and with the engine in the bike normally. you will need to drain the oil and probably need a clutch basket holding tool. looks like giant mole grips £20 Job will take a couple of hours tops.
