Do I need a fan?

I've just been fitting a race wiring harness to the Srad and it doesn't seem to have a connector for the fan, so I was a wondering if it was normal practice to run without a fan, as I suppose it won't do a lot while flying round a track. It's not like I'm going to be stuck in traffic is it? It does have a spare connector that's not going anywhere but I assume that is for the rev counter or instruments, none of which I have coz I'm fitting a Veypor.
