Reviving A Chain

Hi people,

Trying to mildly spruce up my NC29 thats been sat for 2 years for minimal outlay. Main things stopping progress apart from a mystery starting problem (won't turn over on the button?) were the seized brakes and rusty chain.

I've stripped the calipers and will be cleaning and relubing them with red rubber grease, but I want to try and revive the chain until I have the free cash for a new C&S set - tbh its not in that bad a nick, just a bit surface rusty and in severe need of lubricatrion (not seized or nowt) - any trick for get it up and servicable?

Cheers

If it's an O ring chain then apart from removing and soaking and scrubbing in paraffin followed by a soak in something like EP90, there's not much else you can do. Check it for stiff links/rollers and work them until they're un-stiff.

Scrub the chain with a wire brush (top, bottom & sides)

Then do as Hendo said.

I will be doing something similar for the ZZR track bike as that is cruddy.

Cheers, thats pretty mush what I was thinking, nothings seized it just looks shite and needs fresh lube in stead of grit stuck to it.
