hoona6 Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 I'm stumped and peeved. The gearshift on my Daytona 955 is not as I'd like it to be. It's clunky and doesn't shift 'cleanly'. Needs a good boot up the box. I've adjusted the chain to the recommended 35-40mm of slack and made sure that there's some free play at the clutch lever but it's still there. It's blighting my enjoyment of the bike. Any thoughts? Please?
hoona6 Posted September 29, 2011 Author Report Posted September 29, 2011 Change the bike? Shoulda seen that one coming.
lorenzo Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 I know this sounds silly/obvious, but have you tried stripping and cleaning all the little linkages? Makes a suprising amount of difference. But he's right you know, it's a triumph. Get a stronger foot.
bikecat Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 i find that my speed trip likes it when the chain is a bit on the slack side of adjustment...set it to about 40mm when sat on the bike..
Gregorious77 Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Maybe its the hot weather, I have noticed when everything is really hot gear changes get clunkier

Id go for this.....big thing on kawasaki's(zx9's and 6's especially)......and lets face it the triumphs were orginally copies of the big K
Alex_H Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Cush drive not knackered? My gear change lever had side to side play on my r1 which gave similar results, took up the play with a nylon washer
