Hi all, just wondered if you can weld/repair cast metal, the bottom of one of my forks, just below the two pinch bolts that hold the wheel spindle in has cracked off.

If you can where/who please.

Im just worried next time i get the front end up the front wheels gonna fall off.

Cheers all,regards Andy. ;)

You probly can but if it's a Monty your going have the front up quite a bit and really you need something you can trust. find a replacement, maybe through an owners club ???

You may get away with welding it, if the material is half decent and it's pre-heated before hand and then anealed properly afterwards. Problems arise when the material either side of the weld goes brittle if not cooled properly. The spindle hole will also need dressing.

Don't know the model of your bike but there's a pair of forks and wheel in Italy

And a pair of forks in GB ... looks like the guy's breaking a bike so you could probably get a front end and try dropping it into your frame. At least until the correct part turns up
