And it's supposed to be the last one off the production line, just needs a lot of TLC and it'll be reet.

plus it only has 9500 miles on it, should be running and MOT'ed by the end of the summer.

Looks good! Any idea why it doesn't run? How long has it been stood for in a non-running state?

RGs have some very specific problems. If you know them, fine. If not, you need to before firing it up - engine rebuilds cost a fortune.

Can't wait to hear more about it!

It's not my bike but has been bought by a close friend though I will routinely update pics etc as the rebuild progresses,it was last run in '98 , all rubbers are a little...errr...hard ,the old guy who owned it was taken ill so it just sat in his garage, it's going to be completely stripped but absolutely everything is original and there doesn't seem to be anything butched on it, the engine does turn over but without stripping it it's not worth running the risk af trying to start it. He also had three BSA Gold Stars, seems the old boy had good taste.

Very nice: only a little envious

Can I be cheeky and ask what I should expect to pay for something like that

Not 100% certain but I think it was about 7K.

  • 1 month later...

Engine now running as sweet as a sweet thing, he had the carbs rebuilt by an RG specialist and the engine fully checked, it's nearly ready for an MOT just the usual brake bleeding problems which we think will require a vacuum kit to solve easily, hopefully it will be ridden in anger this weekend but as ever with these things they don't always go to plan.
