stuntmonkee
Rebuilding my CRF450 motor, the cylinder has come back from being re-linered and is lovely and clean (acid dip??) and looks out of place with the rest of the engine. Any ideas how to get the rest of the engine a bit cleaner? I'm going to cover it in Gunk tonight and de-grease it as a start but does anybosy else have any other suggestions? Cheers

will#224
Have been using Alloy Wheel Cleaner on the SRAD rebuild, works a treat. GD But if left on ally for too long can a, remove any anodising or b, eat into the ally in an accelerated corrision kinda way. However i've used it too, Halfords do a 5 litre container of it at a decent price. I personally like a salt free intensive dish wash cycle. MonkeyJim
I used Gunk recently when I did the engine swap on the R1 - it's very good. but my top tip of the tiptoppermost would be Halfrauds brake & clutch cleaner, I ended up using it more than the Gunk simply spray on then mmmmm inhale those greasy fumes
xup
WD40 is often overlooked but really good at that sort of thing.
