gixxer08 Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 Just purchased a second hand K8 gsxr1000,only 2000 miles on clock cracking condtion.Didnt use it for a week had cover on and was garaged up,My brakes front brakes seized a little and when I took cover off I have what looks like a rusty shine to brakes, once rode it is no longer there.Had K4 same model never had that problem, any ideas???
cagimaha Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 It's probably just a different pad material Suzuki are using on the newer bikes. Although the discs will be some form of stainless so will be resistant to corrosion the sintered material in the pads is often ferrous so any pad material deposited on the disc will corrode making it appear that the discs are rusting. If it worries you then to stop it you could always give your brakes a quick wipe over with some brake cleaner before you put the bike away after a ride. Unless it starts affecting the performance of the brakes then I wouldn't worry about it. Hope this helps, Ben.
Harry Muff Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 I had this a while back on my 2006 Blade. It's just the pads. Nothing to worry about.
