Sometimes when I go to the bike after its been parked up for a few days and press the starter button, the fuel pump will buzz madly for around 4 seconds, then the bike will turn over and start.

Is this normal?

I thought it was the starter solonoid at first, but its definately the fuel pump.

It runs fine etc other than this.

Please enlighten me.

I have a G2 and the only time I have noticed the pump running is with the tank off when its running out of fuel.

IIRC the pump only run when the engine was running too?

Um, nope. My ratty J2 doesn't make any undue noises in that way.

As a side note, what's the deal with the dipped headlights for the J? Is it both on when dipped or just one?

My J1 has both on with either main or dipped.

Well it doesnt seem to affect the running of the bike, so I think I'll just leave it be for now. It doesnt do it everytime, and once the bike has started its as quiet as a mouse.

I thought it was maybe priming itself or something.

sounds like it is priming itself but why? maybe one of the float bowl drain bolts is leaking?
