can anyone point me to a place (or supply me with) the info I need to strip my ZX636B1 USD forks??

I have them on my ZRX1200 and have heavier springs to fit, but, never having stripped USD forks, havent a clue where to start.

plus - anyone know what weight of oil should be in them? I have conflicting info between 5w and 10w.

Thanks

ALex.

Thanks to Mr Pigdog for the off-site-backup of his manual!

now, here is the quandry.......

I now have 3 versions of this ZX636B1 KAWASAKI GENUINE MANUAL, 2 in English, und vun in der master-language (german)

All 3 have different values!!

1st one says 410ml of 10W fork oil

2nd one says 410ml of KAYABA 01 or SAE 5W

3rd one says 410ml of SAE 10W-40

so....

anyone any suggestions on which to apply???

Im dismissing the 10-40 as you put fork oil in forks!!

so, is it 10w or 5w??

I have these on a zrx1200 and have upped the springs to .95, so am looking for a corresponding 10(ish)% uncrease in oil-weight, so, should I be trying for 5-and-a-bit weight or 12(ish) weight???

I will mix up the correct values of oil to get the weight I finally need.

I have had work done on my B1 forks. basically need to know

How much do you weigh in kit?

What sort of riding will it be - Track only - Road and Track - Road Only

If Track only then which group - this for info only as helps decide on settings.

For info my forks are revalved for 100kg rider with 95 springs and run 125mm airgap using Torco RSF fluid (light)

The actual amount of fluid you need will be in the 400-450 ml region - it will depend on the size of the airgap you settle on. (std is 100mm I think)

Torco RSF Medium =seems to be 7w, so does that mean the original is 5 (which would be light?)

anyone find me a comparison table for fork-oil?

or are there any suspension gurus out there that could help???

all I want to know is what is the standard wt of fork oil in KYB forks on a ZX6B1

The forks are on a ZRX1200, so any zx6 settings will not relly apply.

thanks

Alex.

According to my B1 workshop manual - SAE 10W circa 410ml when changing

or 480 ish if completely drained and stripped. (comes as 500ml bottle anyway)

Airgap 100mm with springs out and forks fully compressed.

Hope this helps.
