SP1Catcher
Hi I am trying to find out if it is possible to use a 2 stroke bike in a 3 hour endurance race? Does anyone have experience of running a 2 stroke in this type of event? Are there any Web resources that can be recommended? I have several friends that are telling me that this is a really bad idea and that I'm going to melt a hole in a piston and/or seize the engine. I am determined to have a go at this and prove them wrong. But before I melt my 1996 Aprilia 250 I would really like some informed advice.

wavydavy
I have several friends that are telling me that this is a really bad idea and that I'm going to melt a hole in a piston and/or seize the engine. I am determined to have a go at this and prove them wrong. Can't see that being too much of a problem as long as the motor's pretty sweet (and as long as you are allowed in/qualify - if you're up against 600+ 4Ts, will you meet the minimum qualifying time, assuming it's similar to the 107% of pole time used in some series? If there are 400 4Ts allowed then I would presume a 250 2T would stand a good chance in that class. To get to within a percentage of the best guys on much more powerful machinery would be dependent on talent and the circuit, I guess) I can see you having to pit for fuel a hell of a lot more than every other team though! StinkWheels
This is raced at the Spa Classic 4hrs every year. I have looked into doing an endurance race here in the UK with our TZR250's, but sadly smallest bike alowed is 600cc.
