tonk
Hello peeps! I commute through winter so my bike often gets wet and salty (BMW K1200S, 1 year old). The only problem this causes is sometimes the pads stick to the discs if left overnight when I finish late and can't be bothered to get the hosepipe on them before bedtime. It's still on original BMW pads but I've had the same problem on my last bike (same make and model) using EBC SBK pads. Any suggestions for something with less metal in them? The brakes are excellent so a minor loss of performance wouldn't matter. Cheers!
blow_away
Try some good quality organic pads such as Ferodo. They give a nice "feel" at the lever and won't rust to the discs overnight like the sintered metal ones. On the minus side they won't last as long, and make more brake dust. West
Ferodo Platinum, good call.
gurninman
Aye, they're pretty good pads those, and you can get 'em in some Halfords branches quite cheaply
lorenzo
I had some of these pads on my trx, they were really good, I liked them, but the initial bite was a bit much at times, so I don't know if in the wet is the best for them. Maybe that was just my clumsy fat fingers?
kwakbiker
Yep, used the ferodo's in most of my bikes over the last few years and they work very well in wet/cold conditions as well as when the weather gets better, even did trackdays on them
gsxr renegade
Or, buy a can of Muc-Off disc brake cleaner, and give the calipers a quick squirt when you put the bike in the garage. That's what i do and it works 90% of the time, plus it's loads cheaper than a new set of pads!
