tootall
Got an Elliot tacho fitted to the ZX7 project. Got it running today (Wahey! Woot Woot etc. ) Seems the tacho is reading high. It works, as in goes up and down pretty much in time with the sound of the engine. But I'm sure its reading too high, just doesn't sound like its ticking over at 2k. Any ideas on how to check/adjust this?
originalracingsnake
Any ideas on how to check this? When does the limiter chime in on that? Can you rev it to the limiter and see if it still over reads? If so, I'd be checking the pickup is not getting a stray signal from an adjacent HT lead. Assuming it picks up from the HT circuit via induction?
tootall
Hmm Will have to look for a switch or summat on the back of the tacho. Don't remember seeing one. It came off a zx7r so should be the right type. Otherwise will look at rerouting some wiring as the tacho wires are right next to the hT leads
originalracingsnake
Not bounced it off the limiter yet then?
tootall
Not bounced it off the limiter yet then? Not really keen on bouncing it off the limiter tbh. Not a fan of doing that with no load on a motor. Let alone one that is not jetted right and has been sat for years.
