fran9r
Omega have made some loverly 9R pistons for a US company. All well and good. I've enquired, having sent 4/5 e-mails requesting details, and a price. I've even asked for a 'rough' price, I just want to establish if we're talking a tinge in the pocket or a full on kick in the GENT. Will they reply? I called a couple of months ago...the guy instantly knew the e-mails, the spec and who the US customer was. Would he give me a price? He would e-mail one. Has he? Has he fuck. Apparently Olly's R1 (nicely featured in, erm, Superbike) used Omegas. Fuck sake, how can a company be in business when they ignore customers? Anyone know companies other than Omega who can make special pistons, and ideally will provide a quote?

peter30
Used to buy my peugeot stuff from them, best quality kit. However, I used to doorstep the fuckers to get anything done, took 9 months to get my 28 pistons out of them. Minimum order was 20. My mate is currently using the last set in his 320bhp 205 16valve. Glad I'm not racing any more, I'd have the Kidderminster trip on the cards again...

peter30
320 brake...out of an Mi16? Details man, details! MI16 alloy block, machined for bigger liners, ex touring car head(under sid's bench at Longmans and we have a spare if I ever want to build one up to race again), titanium everything in the valvetrain, bit more* overlap and duration in the cams, 48mm taper bodies, 8 injectors + motec. 86mm bore, arrow rods, steel 86mm stroke crank, dry sump. Revs a bit higher than touring cars engine did, hence the extra 25 bhp. SADEV 6 speed dog box. Monster AP brake set up.Needs some chassis development to finish it off properly, but good enough to win him a couple of championships and only Rod Birley and Nick Williamson in their Escort Cosworths run quicker laps(200-300 bhp more helps a bit)

Evilchicken0
To be honest go for a ride in ride out service - like Big CC, Holeshot etc and lt themdo the wwhole thing in one hit. Once yo get the pitons you'll need a rebore, but you mit as well get the ead done ...then the cams reprofiled .... then there's cam wheels, cam chin tensioner .... it just goes on. Then te engine builder gets a cold, needs a tool, needs shims needs a gasket or O-ring ...... then they have other work and just don't do anything on your engine ... Go somewhere where ll they do is bike engine tuning, and pay a one up fee

Omegas customer service is shit so I definately will be avoiding them. Cosworth want an order for 20, which, althoug that wouldn't cover all the 9R lumps, I want different specs. Specilly for development. I'll find someone that can answer the phone/email AND can do specials, I'm sure. Or I'll buy the raw product and get them machined to my spec. Olly didn't have these problems with his R1. Omega seemed to be able to get the journalist's pistons ready...
