drunkn munky
Is it possible for me to slightly bend the link pipe to kick my endcan out at a slightly different angle without removing the system from the bike? Basically i want to go from this To this The angel in the 2nd pic was acheived by making a hanger to basically force the can in that possition but im worried this will put stress elsewhere on the system and cause cracking. Would heating it up work? or am i gunna need specialist tools?
Hendo
Could you not take the link pipe down to your nearest exhaust place? Theres a tyre fitting place near me that also specialises in one-off exhaust systems (for the chavs in their corsas), but some of the kit they have is really good for this sorta stuff, benders etc. Andy
drunkn munky
Yeah could do but would mean taking the whole bike down to get the angle right, not really a problem but its not mot'd yet. Just thought id have a crack at it myself
fran9r
Proper pipe benders are loads of money on ebay. I'd like one, but not that much.
Evilchicken0
You can heat the pipe on one side and bend it using something long ... but you run the risk of discolouring the pipe and creasing it. Wait until you get an MOT and then get the link pipe modified at an exhaust place
dodgy_tom
You'd have to heat it up cherry red, and then you'd end up with a pretty ugly crease in it. Could be worth either speaking to a local exhaust place and getting them to make you a link pipe, or if you have access to a welder and tools, making your own link pipe. lorenzo
Cut a thin slot in the link pipe about 80% of the way through, fold it over a bit to close the slot, weld it up. Can you guess I've never done this sort of thing before. I'd say it'd work though.
eddie
Can you not loosen the link pipe where it joins the "downpipes", and where it joins the end can. Loosen/remove the hanger, and then twist the link pipe around, this will/may alter the angle? Then retighten evrything, using your "new hanger"? However, to get the end can at the angle you want, the pipe may stick out the side of the bike, by about 2 foot!! Alternatively cut and weld as above. You'd need to do more than one slit (fnarr) to get the amount of bend that he needs, need to make them straight too for good alignment.
VeeTeeArr
Would it be easier to have the inlet pipe on the front of the can cut and rewelded at the required angle.
drunkn munky
Thanks for all the input guys. On further inspection it's the can that's causing the problem. Bolt a can intended for nc35 on it and it's fine.
Gregorious77
Looks like the can has an angled input to it. can you drill the rivets out of the end cap and turn it round 180 degrees then rivit it back in> this will angle the can downward a bit more but might be too far. to see what effect it will have turn the can upside down and check angle.
