Old suzuki GS seats

OK, huge wealth of collective knowledge, what seats will fit on a GS1000, off about a 1980 model? There's very little on ebay for the thou, but there's one which looks tidy enough off a 750, and one off a 550 too. Othwrwise I'm going to have to go to ebay US and get this little beauty:

Got it: Bosuzuko, them's the fellers. I use a shower cap as a helmet and wear curly turkish slippers, I'll fit right in.

Loz.

I've got a seat off a '79 GS400. Don't know if they had anything in common with the bigger bikes, but if you want I can take some photos/measure up/etc.

If you reckon it would fit it's yours.

Yup, measure away. I've no idea either, but it's worth a go, isn't it. I'll get my tape measure out too, but there's a worrying lack of bracketry on the top of the frame: I suspect that there's supposed to be clip type bits that are on bolt on plates etc, but there's just mainly plain tubing. Hopefully, once there's a tank on there I can get a better idea of where it should sit etc, but if I'm going to have to make up fasteners etc for the frame (I'd rather not, and there may be some in one of the boxes of bits) then somethign that's designed to go on is always going to be better than botching one on.

Anyway, yes please, see what size it is, thanks.

You're a star Tel. I suspect that most of the bits that attach onto the bottom of the seat are so you can strip it for recovering perhaps? Deviant, does your seat look like it's got these bits on it? If so, then it should just be a matter of making sure it fits between the tank and the tail plastics.

Guh. Well, looking through the fiches of all the differen gs models for that year, not 1 is the same. Only the 1000's have the seperate plate underneath too, so it looks like I'm kinda limited to gs1000 bits. Nice link though Tel, I'll keep ploughing through it tomorrow when my eyes are working a bit better, see if any later models have something similar.

yeh, 400 one looks nothing like that - it is hinged on one side on a couple of pins, with the seat lock on the other, so it flips up to (IIRC) the right.
