Stephenrc45 Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 This is my latest project. HRC TT-F3 frame, rear shock and yoke. Just waiting for all the nuts and bolts to come back from being plated and I can start the rebuild. I've got the rest of a full F3 NSR so I hope this will make almost the perfect F3 MC21.
jayRC3045 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 very nice stephen ,and theres me thinking your NSR already had HRC everything im guessing it will do now
YEC_YZF750SP Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Hey Stephen, Genuine HRC Chassis........VERY SEXY indeed!! HHHmmmmm.........maybe I should grab a TZR250SPR (3XV) so that I can catch up to you.
Stephenrc45 Posted October 7, 2008 Author Report Posted October 7, 2008 Hey Stephen, Genuine HRC Chassis........VERY SEXY indeed!! HHHmmmmm.........maybe I should grab a TZR250SPR (3XV) so that I can catch up to you. I think you should get a 3XV, its the only other 250 I'd have. You'd have to get the sugo kit for it though.
Stephenrc45 Posted October 11, 2008 Author Report Posted October 11, 2008 Finished the motor. Got all the bolts back from the platers so managed to install the forks, swinger and engine last night. Just waiting for painted things to dry now.
Stephenrc45 Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 Almost done, fit a couple of hoses and finish the body work and its ready for the track... or is that road?
paul g Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Almost done, fit a couple of hoses and finish the body work and its ready for the track... or is that road? Thats looking even tricker Steve, your HRC fetish is really getting out of hand Whats the difference between the standard and f3 frame? I thought they had extra bracing from the from the frame spars to the forward engine supports. The carbs look like the standard type but knowing you they arent! Didnt you have whacking great Keihn PWK's on before? Is the radiator a modified stocker? Are you going to put the cup noodle bodywork back or have you got something else planned?
Stephenrc45 Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 The frame has a number of small differences. The main one being the mounts to hold the carbs and F3 air box. The Carbs are F3 units. WE found these infact gave better power and over rev compaired to the larger 39.5mm PWKs. They are also much nicer off the bottom. The rad is of course an F3 one though it isnt much bigger than the stocker. It does have a bigger inlet though to go with the F3 water pump. The bikes going to stay plain white now but with red Honda wings just like in the F3 kit manual.
Ray Von Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 So it's taken you just over a month to go from a bag of bits to a bike! Mmmm.. It taken me four years to do the same with an RGV...looks like i need to rethink my strategy a bit! Motivation can be a bugger at times.
Stephenrc45 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 lol I have no life and like to spend time in the work shop . 4 years isnt so bad. I had my RC45 sat in the hall way for almost 2 years waiting for forks!
Stephenrc45 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Report Posted November 14, 2008 No Idea, This one came with the frame. Its shorter and doesnt have the brackets to hold the air box on etc so could well be. In the F3 manual it shows a stock sub frame with about 2" cut off the ends. Not very advanced.
Martin77 Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Hmmm...yeah, not very HRC is it? I managed to lose 650g from mine by using thinner guage tube in places and a few holes; Ignore all the extraneous lumps welded on....as yours is a bit simpler I reckon there's a kilo to be saved there...
Stephenrc45 Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 I could drill some holes in it and stuff but I've left it almost stock. I did turn up a load of alloy spacers, infact all the spacers and mounts on the bike are alloy now which has shed quite a bit of weight. Its got lighter fairings etc being fitted now so it should be quite a bit lighter than its predecessor overall.
Royster Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 so where is this bike now, whats happening to the cup noodle bodywork and why haven't you updated ,and don't say you have no time ....
Stephenrc45 Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 Well, as it happens I've almost finished it today... Someone else has the noodle paint work now. Now the bikes as per the book I wanted it as close to OE as I coudl get within reason. We need an F3 shoot out Rhory.
Royster Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 yes as close to hand book with-in reason then he goes and sticks a side stand on it ...lol yes an F3 shoot out sounds good but i think i need a few years to catch up with you on the HRC stakes,i need to gather more parts a period paint job just doesn't cut it i'm afraid lol
Spike16 Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 rhory do yours like the one on the f3 nc30 manual, then they will look awesome next to each other, f3 spec exactly by the book
Stephenrc45 Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 I had to fit a side stand cos its a pain without it. I made it some is easy to remove though. I told Rhory as well he shoudl paint his F3 NC30 in the Kit colours as well once hes finished it. Would look really nice like that.
Royster Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 yes i agree, when i get closer to it being an F3 kit bike i will purchase some new bodywork and get a good period paint job on it in HRC F3 colours.... and steve i thought you might like this how close is that to yours ?
Stephenrc45 Posted December 8, 2008 Author Report Posted December 8, 2008 I have one of those too ;o)
Spike16 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 got any pic's of how you made it "easily removable" cos i think i need to do this too maine as il be having to take it off for racing but i will put it back on strait after the meeting to make transporting it in the van easier hmm what would be quicker f3 400 or f3 250.... we will have to see (hurry up rhory!), for that kind of battle cadwell is the only place i think
Stephenrc45 Posted December 9, 2008 Author Report Posted December 9, 2008 250's used to beat the 400's hand down. Suzuka 4 hr part 1 Suzuka 4 hr part 2
si.likes.guiness Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 yes i was going to say the 250s should
Royster Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 F3 250 all day long ali, but i'd rather have the F3 400 (sorry stephen) but thats just because i don't like 200mile rebuilds and i would hurry up if i could find the parts and the extra money to buy them lol
Stephenrc45 Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Posted December 10, 2008 Have no doubt, I'd have a full F3 NC30 any day as well. They are super trick. My rebuilds are closer to 250 miles as well
Spike16 Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 fair enough, great videos stephen, loving the mahoosive rebound adjusters on the forks at about 20 seconds in on the first vid personally id have an f3 400, but thats cos im a 4 stroke kind of guy, + i think id get kicked of 400gb if i didnt say that lol know how you feel rhory mate, its bad enough trying to get my bike to where im happy with it (i will never be), it must be so hard when you have to do modd's by the book, but its all on a scale and im a student earning not alot more than £200 a month!!!, but i got a pay rise last week! woohoo....bring on yahoo japan
