3tj6 Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Got a akrapovic system for my r6 13s , wanting to wrap it , do you wrap it all including the headers or from collector back ? Tia jon Quote
426hemi Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 I grip the end of the wrap in a vice and then wind the header around the wrap as I find you get a tighter and neater finish and use lock wire to secure it. 1 Quote
Evilchicken0 Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Why ?!!! Honestly it looks shite dont waste your time 3 Quote
theo Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 ^This. Why do you want to wrap it? Looks shit, does little and if it gets wet, gives a perfect environment for corrosion. Ive got a full Leo Vince system on my 13S, and struggling to think why Id want to wrap it. 2 Quote

I rarely agree with young Theo. But I do here. Exhaust wrap is fine for specific applications, but in any environment where its going to get wet, then hot, its not suitable. If you're struggling with temperatures, get it coated... Edited August 8 by Timbo S2 Quote
trackdaybob Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Yeah, what @theo said. Exhaust wrap is pretty crap all round. 1 Quote

I had the headers on my rsv exhaust ceramic coated and then I wrapped them because of the heat affecting the shock, you could ride the bike and get the exhaust really hot and leave the engine running and hold the rear header, it was about as hot as holding a hot drink with your hand around the cup. 3tj6 Posted August 8 Author Report Posted August 8 The reason for wrapping is cosmetic , the exhaust has been to the moon n back , it was rust red , even tho the headers n collectors are stainless , i’ve had it acid dipped and lightly polished , but it has a lot of corrosion on it , all the way from the headers to link pipe n i want to hide it , no other reason Quote
TLRS Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 Afaik stainless will do that with improper abrasives?! Can imagine you want to wrap it.. Quote
ssray Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 I wrapped the headers and collector of the zzr11, mostly because the radiator is at best borderline and it cooked me in the summer Quote
