Need ideas for exhaust fume extraction

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Finally decided I need to greatly reduce the amount exhaust fumes filling up my workshop. As I'm on the mezzanine of an industrial unit, I can't just open the doors and point the bike to the outside. I do have opening windows, though.

So, need something similar to what a dyno room would have, I guess. Something like a big funnel connected to a big air sucking thingy and flexible ducting to outside. It needs to be mobile as I'll need to be able move it to different places in the workshop.

What's an economical air sucking device that's sufficient to get rid of the fumes from a 500cc two stroke with four exhausts?

Cheers all.

Google 'Scavenge pump'

* we use these in (medical) theatres to extract the anaesthetic gases.

These pumps pull a fair bit of vacuum  ( negative pressure )

It will 'pull' you're hand away & you will not be able to extract it strong...

With some ducting/ mobile trolley on castors, may? suit your requirements?

** are available single phase supply / 3 phase dependent on your power needs.

*** google Gardner Denver scavenge pumps

**** @threepot900 may? use Anaesthetic Scavenging pumps in the course of his work?

Unless i got posters mixed up?

***** Or just leave the (Bloody) doors/ windows open & hope that the carcinogenic  by-product(s) don't make you V poorly.

HTH?

Leaf blower, sucker

Sorry😋

They do shift a large volume of air, I reckon it could be the basis of a solution

Machine mart sell various kits but you’re looking at around £1000+ but it’ll give you an idea what’s out there.

Merlin, keep the original length on the prop blades and also modify the throttle stop like Guy Martin did it.

Yeah, that'd probably do the job nicely. Lots of air volume is key, I think.
