Royster Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 i stripped a motor apart last night to find it's mashed one of the con-rod bearings and marked the crank quite bad. chatting to my mate beside me he said that cranks can be reground and repaired if the damage isn't bad,now i'm now engine expert but whats envolved in repairing the crank ? has anyone on the forum had it done and what sort of price where they charged, it seems a shame to scrap the whole motor (a V4 nc30 one) just becasue the cranks knackered... on the bright side through i checked and i could still get a new crank from honda ,at £670-vat..... can anyone help
wavydavy Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 AFAIK for a re-grind they add new material to the crank and then grind it back to the shape/size it should have been - think of how you re-profile cams, but on the other end of the engine.... As for how much it costs, I have no idea. There should be adverts for these kind of services in the Bike Mart part of today's comic.... Dave
