Cleaning coolant reservoir?

Recommended Posts

the hawk's reservoir is 30 years old and looks it - opaque to the point where it's difficult to see the level. What say y'all is the best way of cleaning & clearing it so it's a luvverly thing of RC31 goodness? Cheers!

I had this with the bros from boxes. I initially used sterilising tablets in there, then a selection of domestic cleaning products, all of which helped things along nicely. Then I found the other reservoir in a box, which was much cleaner in the first place, so used that. HTH.

Rice, uncooked as an abrasive.

Pop some in.

shake, shake and shake some more.

It gets into the important little places.

then rinse

I used Bicarbonate of soda and boiling water. Its a bit messy and your bench will look like a crackhouse but works well fo sho
