SO EVERYONE WANTS A TWO STROKE..IF YOU'VE GOT DEEP POCKETS YOU CAN TREAT YOURSELF TO A 350LC  THAT BOATS WELL AND TRUELY LEFT THE DOCK....SO WHAT'S LEFT

KR1S's AND RGV's ,YOU TRIED FINDING A DECENT ONE?

BUT THERE IS STILL A RAY OF TWO STROKE SUNSHINE...THE YPVS 350, YEAH THE LC2 MODELS WITH THEIR PRO-AM NOSE CONE AND BELLYPANS HAVE FOLLOWED THE 4L0's INNTO COLLECTORS CORNER, WITH THE F1 AND N1's FOLLOWING BEHIND,BUT THE F2 CAN STILL BE HAD FOR POCKET MONEY.

FOR LESS THAN A GRAND YOU CAN STILL PARK A YPVS IN YOU GARAGE, YES IT WILL LEAK OIL OUT THE GEAR SELECTOR SHAFT ALL OVER THE FLOOR (THEY ALL DO THAT SIR :) ) BUT IT WILL REWARD YOU WITH HOURS OF FUN.

I have to admit that I *never* liked the 350. Liked the 250, weirdly, but not the 350.

Probably 'cos it was 1 cylinder, about 39ccs and a quidck name change to Soichiro's surname short of perfection......

:D

The Cr500 will rape them both (you should know you have one too)

The NSRVF will roll-over and pretend it *wants* to be raped then cut all their balls off in the bath and dangle them like insignificant trophies, innit?

never like the look of the later 350.. and i dont see many around as they get broken for the motors to be put into the LC frames.

and yes finding a decent KR/RGV is a pain, theres a couple of ebay atm for reasonable money

Well glad to see I'm in the right place for intelligent conversation about mechanical devices molesting each other. 'No means no' guys.

YPVS were fun but time has moved on.

Until we get older & more nostalgic & then it moves back.

I'm slowly & painfully trying to finish my Yamagama/RGV/500cc Cheetah RZ engine. Summer is coming here (in NZ) so I better extract digit & do so. While it's still road legal.

Dammit, I thought mine was special, the way it leaked oil like that. Ahhh, RD350 YPVS you will always have a special place in my heart.

watch out, here comes the dream sequence.............

My first bike was an FII model. In these colours:

By 'eck it was a lot of fun, and I loved it. And I hated it. It regularly broke down, always when me & Pete were going somewhere cool on our bikes, like Goodwood or superbikes.

I crashed it several times over the few years I had it - it was surprisingly crash resistant - and I even got nicked on it.. several times.

I even rode it all year round for a while, I couldn't afford a car, and I went all over the country on it. When it was working.

I put some micron spannies on it and I still remember the sound. I never had it re-jetted though - in fact, I didn't even know what that meant - and about a year later it went bang big stylee.

With the help of my best mate Pete [he had an NC30 at the time, the bastard] we stripped the engine down to discover a con rod saying hello through the crankcase. So I sourced a new engine & fitted it myself. Yep, all by myself.

And by God it started first kick... ok well maybe third or fourth... but it didn't matter, I felt like I should be spannering for a GP team.

Little did I know, the seal between gearbox oil & coolant was leaking, so it ran out of coolant and siezed. On the M1 on my way to meet Pete. I pushed it about 2 miles along the hard shoulder to Toddington services. Anyone that says two-strokes are light is talking bollocks, let me tell you.

well that was the final straw & I sold it as a rolling chassis plus engine as spares. I still remember it fondly.

I imagine riding one now would be disappointing and terrifying at the same time. how much are they again?
