willbloke
Mate has a J2 ZX6R , lost all drive last weekend. Had a look, the oil was changed 500 miles ago and looks like it's got 10000 miles on it. Barely any friction material and metal plates are blue. Now he did run it on car oil for a while , and it's done about 33,000 miles , so not really surprising it's given up the ghost . He's on a tight budget , but I reckon it needs friction and metal plates , is it worth changing springs as well ? Will a new filter and fresh oil sort it , or does it need a flushing agent ? Also , anyone got a link to a workshop manual ? What say you peeps ?
levo
Car oil is shit for bikes as it has stuff that shouldn't be used on clutch plates. New clutch End of
BudgetBoy
What levo said.. Clutch pack will be ruined from the car oil.. If it were me id flush the engine with some cheap bike oil 1st , then change the clutch,, add new bike oil etc and good to go. A tight budget is why he used car oil probably.. Do it once and do it right. Hopefully he will now learn (by you telling him) that it has cost him more (new clutch, proper oil etc) and that he would have saved money had he have put proper oil in the bike in the 1st place.
