Mrdrink
Well not really, i sat in a chicken shed playing in an old part of this: heres me on my second landing, im a bit off as i did aim for the taxi way first so had to come in from the right I did a night landing that mrsdrink didnt get on vid but the landing was near perfect (for an idiot playing) he did show me the flight path on the sim computer and apart from a bit of wind lifting me a little at half distance the lines looked pretty straight All in all we had an hour in the seat, i was 1st officer to a young lad who who was very confident with it all. good way to spend the afternoon p.s dunno how to embed a photobucket vid on this here forum
Romski
Well done on the landing the thing, but did you try to roll the plane or even a loop the loop? Now that would of been very impressive.

Mrdrink
My first landing was a good one apart from he forgot to tell me to put the landing gear down made a bit of noise They didnt let us do too much, let us get the thing swearing at us for bank angle, thats about as exciting as it got. I do wish i had done something in aviation when i was younger
jaycee
I "crashed" a 747 simulator while attempting a night landing into Durban Airport. Who knew that you had to slow down little ?
Skellern
How realistic are they? Common question I guess but always wondered .. Flew a sea king or lynx simulator .... In the 90s at Portland naval base.....yup when it actually was one and smashed that thing sideways into the deck at a speed a space shuttle astronaut would of been proud of.... It had all the ideas of how it should of gone but apparently the laws of physics corrected me ..... Pah !! What does it know lol
Mrdrink
I obviously have no idea how realistic this is (im sure Ifor could shed some light there). The cockpit/front end is the actual one from that Ryanair Jaguar decorated aircraft in the pic up top. Its fixed base and i did wonder how that would be but for me it didnt detract from the experience. The way the scenery moved gave you a feeling of movement and the controls did have some feel to them. The company does make the sims for flight training purposes so imagine they have to be good. http://www.virtualflight.co.uk/#/our-simulators/4574803849
Dan
http://www.ebaft.com/fly/fse.htm not cheap but probably as real as it can be!
IforB
They are pretty realistic really. Obviously they aren't quite the same, but they are pretty damned close, mespecially as every aircraft flies a bit differently to another anyway. Full motion sims feel quite different from a fixed base version like this, the motion makes it feel more realistic, but the motion is the only difference really. One thing I found when I transitioned out from one of these onto the actual aircraft was that I found the aircraft much easier, as instead of just your eyes telling you what was going on, you get an extra level of information coming at you via all of your other senses too. So actually I always found the aircraft easier than the sim really.
