Farmfab01
I don’t know if this is any use to anyone, but here is a tip for removing rust & scale from steel, it is spirit of salts (Hydrochloric acid) & is often sold as brick cleaner, just brush it on & leave it for a few minutes then work it with the brush, if it is thicker rust you may find that you need to go over it with a wire brush (I did the steel in the picture below with a cup brush fitted to my 115 mm grinder) then give it another coat of acid, when you have finished wash off thoroughly with water, & paint or oil ASAP to the stop rust reappearing. Spirit of salts also works very well for cleaning stainless steel down pipes etc. Before attempting to use spirit of salts (Hydrochloric acid) please go to the following web site: http://www.ciret.co....pirit-salts.pdf Please read the information carefully & use the appropriate safety equipment - gloves /goggles etc. & work in a well ventilated area (out doors is best) Here is a picture of two pieces of steel one before & one after P1010595 by Farmfab01, on Flickr
