rs250_steve
Now then guys, Im about to start on a bit of a project involving a couple of Aprilia RS250s, but the frame of one of them could do with a good re finish. The frames are factory polished - not to a mirror polish but to a nice sheen. basically it just wants returning to a OE finish so paint of powder wont do. Can anyone recomand me a frame restorer or polished? ideally up ere in the north! Cheers.
Adam
Dave at Allenchrome would probably boss it. They have to polish everything before chrome plating so they'll be fully kitted up for it.
rs250_steve
I like your thinking chief. I'll have a chat with him when I drop the bits off for plating.
speedy sie
Never seen an rs 250 frame that is factory polished?? They are anodised and his will have to be removed before polish
Gobert23
The RS250 frame isn't really polished, it just so happens that the main spars are quite 'bright', from the sheet that would've been used for that particular piece / pressing. The bottom section / back of the frame (down by the swing-arm pivot) is obviously cast, with the main spars welded (just like most twin-spar frames) onto this section. Polishing a frame should certainly get a similar result, but I'd seek advice on a good clear-coat that'll seal it up or you'll forever be left trying to main the finish.
