szrdave
The rear engine mount on the SZR is broken, and needs repairing before the engine can go back in. I've spoken to a local engineering firm who can do it, and they've quoted me £160+VAT including me supplying a CAD model for the new mount. Here is a picture of the problem: I've got nothing to gauge the cost against, does it sound like a fair price?
porter_jamie
you going to make it a big bigger where it broke? they got to make the new bit, grind off the old bit, weld the new bit on as well? 2 hours to make the bit maybe, cos its a one off and theres a bit of threading etc, 1/2 hour to get the old one off, 1/2 hour to put the new one on, 1/2 hour fettling etc, 20 quids worth of metal? about spot on i guess
Superdunc
A little expensive in my opinion, but not outrageous they'll need to make up a little fixture as well to hold it while it's welded on. Looks like a cash job to me, but don't tell George Osbourne.
Evilchicken0
You're screwed without it and I can't see you getting it a lot cheaper. If you run around (Run-a-round-starts now) trying to save a couple of quid you're going to use your own time up. To find a new frame will cost more than the £200 you've been quoted, and you have to reregister the bike.
