Good grief:

2....There is no log books (V5's) as I only intended to use them as race bikes....however I am sure you could apply for them...

If he went the length and breadth of the country buying stuff and 'at least half' were complete bikes, why don't any of them have log books? Surely he'd get one when he bought the complete bikes if they were kosher.....

I guess it depends how long ago the "several years" is, if it was way back ((pre SORN or the new V5's) maybe he just didn't send the log books off.

Unless he was buying already taxed road bikes nothing would ever come of it and these bikes will still be registered to the previous owners. But unless you know the reg number there will be issues getting the V5 again..

Though registering one again and getting an age related plate won't be hard as long as the VIN isn't listed as stolen or CAT A or B write off.

I have heard that the story was true!

A mate of mine who was in the racing scene in Scotland confirmed the story and gave me a name - he did add that he'd bet the seller had cherry-picked all the good stuff before offering all of the rest though.

Grossly overpriced for lots of scruffy tat - only the tanks are worth anything in real terms - but not the value it sold for!

Without looking at the stuff, how can anyone tell how much of the stuff is usable?

Agreed, looks like a whole load of expensive ballast to me.
