I won this on fleabey earlier this morning:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150886738198?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1361

Been playing with the idea of having a dedicated 'wet' bike for a while now, I have most of the parts required barring a frame, tank, swingarm and a few odds and sods, and when this came up I decided to have a last-minute punt, and won!

Looks like an MC18 R5K to me, most of a bike going by whats in the boxes.

If the motor is ok, it'll be a bargain I think! MC18 cylinders are getting rare & expensive!

Picking it up on Saturday, will post some photies and findings!

I think one well sorted 2 stroke is enough for one person and think you should definatly sell this to me once it's built lol.

Nice buy tho that must be cheap for all them bits

Looks a proper project you have got yourself their Paul!

If you want to sell any of the bits you dont use I might be interested in the stock pipes, mine has a grind mark on one of the chrome sections so Im looking out for a better pair.

Looking at the pictures i would say it is an MC18R2J chassis. The R5K has a floating rear brake with a seperate torque arm, in the pic you can see the slotted lug on the top of the swinging arm where the rear caliper carrier locates so looks like R2J.

Definetely R5K Pipes though ;)

Now you've got this to play with, wanna sell me the TZR? (Assuming you've still got it!) :eusa_think:

Soz mate that went ages ago!

Ahhh yes... Damia.. Was hoping for a PGM2 with it... Never mind! Will be selling the pipes for sure, got some chambers to go on it!

Well, set off this morning and picked up the latest NSR!

Looks ok, main bearings have seized and the crank is a bit rusty. One cylinder and head are good but the other pair are lunched.

Everything else looks ok, full electrics (although PGM1) in it, all cables there, box of nuts and bolts etc. Brakes etc complete. Rear wheel is a 18" but hey ho. Another for the scrap pile!

All it needs really is a rear shock, inlet rubbers and reed cages, crank (got a few), cylinder (got a few!), and the usual consumables like a chain, piston etc etc.

Think it's a bit of a bargain!

It does fit into a golf!

May start putting bits together tonight, can get a list together then..

nice buy.....80's honda's though

good ideas but f@@KED up by honda inc and their total lack of ability to build a great bike.....

why they always have to over engineer and complicate and add weight ?

Utter tosh! Sorry but the NSR is extremely well built to other bikes from that era!

As for weight, the MC18 weighs 127kg but an RGV250K weighs in at 128kg

The crank in my MC16 is 25+ years old, still going strong (touch wood) and is producing 20hp more than it started with. My RGV250 used to eat cranks on a yearly basis.

The NSR is perfectly engineered for a bike of its age, ok some weight savings to be had here and there but these things were built to a price remember!

As 2smoke said that's nonsense.

Aside from the fact they were heavy, severely restricted, jetted to cock from standard and pig ugly :P

Sound ace though, I used to race the 'Hot' version a TZ250U, great bike.

ugly ? to me its perfect , yes i had a TZ 'U' also i loved it. the last of the 3MA's were good but it was hard to live down the first of issues, then i think they lived in the shadow of the 3XV (frickin brill frame & best power to weight of early 90s........i think), ive had the same bottom end & gearbox in my MC21 since noah was in shorts playing full back for the juniors but i will always like yamaha 2 stroke 250s

I don't think the dry one will be ready for Saturday at this rate!

The motor is lunched really, I have just enough spares to build a good one I think, may need a crank to fit the mc18 cases..
