Jenny Pryde
Is it better to have lacquer applied? Or better to have none, so the top layer can be renovated if needs be?
speedy sie
solid color needs no lacquer, metallic base coat and base coat color needs lacquer.

Richy
Lots of new cars with solid colors are base coat then laquerd, gives the paint some `depth` (sp?)
alexp5
Clear over base can be solid or metallic. I had a X reg Ford Faeces in solid red that started to fade in a few places. Tried mopping it to no avail due to the clear. Grrr Shined it up nice though...
speedy sie
as soon as you mop and see no base color on your mop it shows it been laquared.if this helps the use of base coat color is to get a better final finish,as the lacquer is far finer to spray then solid color and hence lays and flows out better.
