BudgetBoy
Urr it has to be the right size as well. (W-D-H) GSXR 1000 models:- 1996-1998 are YTX12-BS 2000-2004 are FTX12BS 2005-2010 are FT12A-BS If its older than these let me know. Has to be 12 volt & 10Ah In case you don't know the 1st 2 letters (YT or FT) are the manufacturers numbers The x means its high performance battery 12 = volts B= type of terminal S = Performance level Normally if 3 letters (YTX) = Gel battery or maint free 2 (FT)letters would mean it's lead acid. Just get the right one for your bike and you will be fine mate. The battery you have is probably past its sell by date.
dansp1
You could of course save weight and cash by replacing it with a smaller battery, your gixxer probably has a 12 amp/hour battery and a 9ah will be more than adequate. Just make sure the terminals have the correct orientation and pack any gaps with high density foam or summat to stop it rattling around, job jobbed. I have a lightweight battery on the sp1, 7ah, they said it couldnt be done but i had a gel cell 7ah on there for two years, never let me down
