V6Jon
My 750 SRAD doesn't have a steering damper, and despite riding on some shitty roads it has never made me believe it needed one. However when I get round to fitting them I have a new pair of dogbones to raise the back end, and I am wondering whether this change in geometry will mean I should fit a damper before it spits me over a hedge or into a lamppost ? So what is the enlightened opinion of the PB massive ? And if one is needed, and bearing in mind I have no mountings / money etc, what should I be looking for ? Thanks Jon
lorenzo
I ran a spacer on the back shock and a 55 section tyre to raise it further still on mine, the only time the handling ever felt iffy was when I'd got the new tyres fitted and the guy at the tyre shop left 55psi all round. Even on track mine never felt like it was going to slap, apart from once or twice when coming over t crest after the first chicane at Oulton, and that was pinned in 2nd gear, hitting about 10krpm with the throttle wide open. It also had a little shimmy the once on the motorway at about 70, again full throttle and high revs in a low gear (Me, acting like a dick? Never...) and clipping a cats eye while swapping lanes. Bear in mind that all of these times I've never had a proper slapper on it, just a shake that the bike sorts out itself. So, in summary, not needed, at least not if you're my weight (about 14.5st). V6Jon
Ithankewe I did wonder what bearing my frame would have on all of this as I am a mere 6'5" and a positively svelte (but still manly) 15 ish stone.
lorenzo
You're about the same size as me then, give or take an inch and 7lbs, and from that I can ascertain you're one hell of a feller. Basically, some racing whippet type may've had trouble back in the day, you and I, we just squash it into submission.
speedy sie
yes a tuned 750 needs a damper...as the front can get a bit shakey, and adds to stable front end at 160 with the knee down.
lorenzo
Drop the 1 off the front of that speed and they're fine without....
V6Jon
You can drop 125 off that speed. I live on an island with a 35mph speed limit and never speed, honestly occifer
