You being serious Tom? That was an awesome level of skill and a classic demonstartion of not target fixating on what is gonna hurt you.

I thought he did really well; better than I would have done I'm sure. I would have gone the other way, behind the car and probably ended up on my arse!

Oh yeah, his management of the situation he found himself in was excellent. However, hooning round a blind bend with a turning on the inside isn't exactly a smart move is it? The car had no chance of seeing him. That's what I mean by easily avoidable.

Bollocks - that was pure luck that the decisions taken by the car driver and bike rider led to a miss. If the car driver had accelerated instead of braking (as many do) then the rider's decision to run wide would have had a very different result.

Well no, you're talking bollocks. Most people would have slammed the brakes on and hit the car. He looked where it was safe to go and went.

That is skillful.

Plus, I'm not so sure that car did brake at all.

Interesting. As I was riding back from Sunderland on the Capo I headed down the A65 at around 80. There was an old Peugeot estate car ahead of me coming up to a lay by with a volvo in. The road was clear so I flicked the indicator on to pass the Peugeot, thinking the Volvo would pull out behind the Peugeot. What actually happened was that as I came to pass the Peugeot, he slowed to let the Volvo turn RIGHT from the lay by and thus straight into the bit of road I was in. This occurred in seconds and I moved over onto the verge to avoid hitting the front of the Volvo. It just happened, at the point where I came past the Peugeot the Volvo driver would not have seen me. I was lucky, and should have read the situation better. The gravity of it did not hit me (no pun) until about 2 minutes later.

I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes your luck is in and your instincts bail you out.

Nah, that was no more skillful than guessing heads or tails. Luckily everybody involved won.

Holy shit !!! Look at his rev counter afterwards, stays the same for a fraction, then he starts accelarating again, as if to say "Ah well, best get on pfft !!!!"

I would have shat meself proper ... and probably locked the front and gone for a tumble !!!

I agree with the luck theory. If the driver had been more awake and acceperated to get out it would have been curtains. Instead it was just "Oh Well. Another dozy b'stard. Better get on with my lunacy." Same guy in other clip has no need for the carwler lane when he can barge aside the traffic on the other side. Short life ahead.

Pure luck he avoided it in my opinion, pure luck there was nothing coming the other way!

He got lucky.

Similar thing happened to 2 pals of mine. One went in front, one behind - car just stopped dead in the middle of the road. I stopped before I got to the car (benefit of being slow!) Guy who went round the front missed the Micra by about 10mm. I was more shook up than them, cos I saw it in more detail. Spent the rest of the ride peeking round corners like a 8 year old watching Doctor Who from behind the sofa.

Faaarrrkin' hell that was close!

Lucky bugger - shame he ignored the two signs before-hand warning of an upcoming junction; that would have been a hell of a mess if he'd hit the drivers door

My 2p would be...

Quick and positive reactions 10/10 - He tried a solution and it worked. Better than oh shit...bang, anyday.

Steering, both quick countersterring and line changes mid corner 10/10 - shame more people cant throw a bike about like this.

Hazard awareness, a plan, cause and effect. Fail.

Skilful? hmmm yeah without the steering skills he'd have hit the car. But I'll bet he knows the road, he ought to know the junction, very lucky not to be an ornament.

Mind, I could do with some spares if he duffs it up... ;)

He was tipping along nicely, I dont think there'd have been much left of the bike.

I guarantee he touched cloth, regardless of skill!
