Kermit Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 Hello All, Has anyoe here any experience in working with Thermoplastic repair kits? The fairing on my bike is made from Thermoplastic. I Want to fill the headlam holes on a spare top fairing I have to make it into a track fairing. I see that Thermoplastic filler is available in beads that are immersed in hot water to form a putty like substance. I guess that I can use some mesh to fill the holes and apply the putty to the mesh to fill the holes in the fairing. Will the putty simply adhere to the fairing as the putty cools and hardens? What about getting a finish suitable for painting, can it be sanded like normal filler? What paints are needed? As always, any help greatly aprreciated. Kermit.
dfv8 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 I think that the stuff you're describing is generally used to repair cracks/lugs etc in fairings and bodywork. It's not designed for use over large areas. Have a look at this link http://pbmagforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=256&st=0 for the correct way of doing it.
