Where are all the Aprilia RS 250's?

the time has come for me to sell the nc30 and live out my teenage dream, im on the look-out for an rs but there are none around for sale, hasn't been any in the local ad papers or mcn for weeks. ive seen a couple on e-gay but im old fasioned and dont like buying off there would much rather go round someones house and kick the tyres before commiting!

I think all the middle aged men with a bit of cash are buying them and locking them in thier sheds never to be seen again.... which makes me sad as i want to get one and show it off to anyone who will look!

There's an '04 model in my shed. It's getting sold soon to make way for a new racebike though.

really?! didn't even know they made them in 04, how much and how soon you thinking of selling? looking like it will be start of the new year now for me, as i am selling my bike back to the guy i brought it off as he sold it to me really cheap as a favor so waiting for him to get the cash together

'04 was the final year of production mate. I have to touch up a few scrapes on the fairing and put some new indicators on before I sell her, but it'll be within the next 6 weeks. I'm in Australia though .

The early ones are prettier though, this one looked like a bit of a good buy.

A properly mint one (Regianni rep, same as the one above), uk bike, absolutely spotless and under 3000 miles sold on the RGv forum recently, £2500.

I've got a pair of, late model, RS250's tucked away in the garage...

To be fair, finding a good, clean bike at a 'bargain' price can just be pot luck.

Yes, some owners want top dollar when it comes to selling on, but having completely rebuilt one, I have a first-hand understanding that there's a lot of time and investment that has to go into them.

Yes, strokers have more 'consumable' parts. You really need to accept that before getting into ownership.

There's more than a few out there that haven't had meticulous servicing... Basically, do your homework. Read, read and read some more...

When you start looking at new crank, pistons, power-valves, cables, gaskets... It can become a very long (and expensive) list?

'Kit' parts (not Aprilia, but Suzuki VJ22 bits) are think on the ground as well and still at a premium.

The irony is that the high price bikes are arguably at opposite ends of the bike spectrum... Ultra-trick 'kitted' bikes, with all the gp faster parts that money can purr-chooose... at the other end (a bit like RD350LC's now?) are the absolutely stock and standard machines.

Nah i prefer the newer ones with the ''wasp'' tail, I had an '01 rs 125 in the yelow/grey/black scheme and loved it....sold it like a dick to fund drunkeness at university.... :D Wish i Hadn't now but i now NEED a 250 in those colours, if things get desperate then i will settle for a Biaggi Chesterfield rep.

That 125 was a bargin! brought it at an auction for £800 in 03 when it was 2 years old, perfect condition other than it was missing the top end of the engine and the cdi, answered a couple of ads in the ad mag and got an engine of a realy nice bloke with a race pipe for £200 then went 10 mile down the road to another ad....an rs broken in a scallies shed, blatantly nicked but luckily for me he had one leg and was a bit daft so managed to buy the cdi for £50 along with forks, swingarm and a ton of other stuff! so good triumphed over evil! (I know its bad to fund bike theft but i was 19 and skint) so got a 2 year old rs on the road for a little over a grand!

Well, if you're wanting a winter project (and to save yourself a small fortune in the current market) you could buy my 'other' RS250...

It's complete, but will need a lot of work (imho) to get it all back together and in service...

Me? I've got other things to be working on... and would rather see if go as a job-lot, rather than faffying about selling individual parts.

It's a 2003 RS250 (UK, with the V5 in my name)...

The only bits missing from the 'jigsaw' are:

1. A petrol tank.

2. Front brake discs.

To compensate (given that you'd not get far without a petrol tank of brake discs), there is a pretty large selection of 'bits' in the garage (again, I'll not be using... for example:

There's a choice of Showa (OE) or Penscke (new) rear shocks...

There's brand new rubber on the wheels...

There's a brand new set of stainless Scorpions in a box... (and two sets of standard pipes)

I'm not going to list out everything, as basically there's a small mountain of parts... I've just no time (and plenty other projects 'in progress')

I've talked about doing a deal with Scottie Redmond on all the stuff I have, but given I'm in Scotland, it's never been easy...

I have a chesterfield RS, Pretty decent condition but with some scuffs on the RH fairing (and let this be a lesson to us all, just 'cos it's dry doesn't mean you get the RS out and ignore the fact there 'may be' a little frost around (it was ice at 10mph and to be fair it did land mostly on me, which is a sacrifice which i'll make again and again))

It's got some goodies on her as well, but i'm in the Isle of Man.

PM if interested.
