daywalker Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Got a brand new KR1S and never bothered with it again. Went into the garage in about 1990 and stayed there. All original except stickers taken off the panels and tank. Matching frame and engine numbers. Brakes are seized on but engine was stroed with oil down the bores. Engine turns over alright. Always thought I would restore it but too big for it now! Also got about 7 complete DT175MXs cluttering up the lockup which I need shot of as well. All with V5s in my name etc. Don't ask it was a bit of a compulsion I had years ago.
Bilko! Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I did the same mate. Parked mine in '89. Left it until '06 and dug it out. All I did was re-build the engine, new brake pads and a quick rub down with a chamois. ( the bike not me! ). Done about 3500 miles since. I'd never sell it and I don't care what it's worth. To be honest, the quicker these "restorers" have done their stuff and moved onto summat else the better. The prices some parts fetch on fleabay is ridiculous. Didn't some clown pay £122 for a right hand mirror earlier on this year?. . If you're determined to get rid, just it stick on auction and see what happens. What it fetches depends on how many anoraks are looking. Matching numbers is more important than curing cancer apparently. . Honestly though, keep it. you'll regret losing it I think. People are restoring DT175's , well.........as long as the numbers match and the fork gaiters are genuine Yamaha. .
gregtrx Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I might be interested in a dt175, for my little bro when he passes his test. How much for an alive one?
daywalker Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Posted November 7, 2008 None of the DTs are alive as such. Although there is a nice matt black one with a KMX disk brake front end that ran a couple of years ago. I am based in Bristol if you wanted to have a look. In fact thinking about it one of them is actually a DT125MX (currently got a 175 engine in it but still registered as a 125. Two of them are red with all original bits but bent forks (crap brakes) Suppose will probably ebay them all. Know what your saying about the LC but I have had the think since I was 17 and now about to turn 40 and just not into the two stroke thing anymore plus 23 years ago I was 10-1/2 stone now I can be 15 stone depending on how much gym work I do. Big four strokes are the only answer for me now.
Ray Von Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Mate just sold a DT175 for £731 recently on't fleabay. Tis silly alright
Andy J Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Have a look on ebay and see what they go for on there, put yours on there and book your holiday to the Maldives! LCs are very popular at the moment,if its in good nick then i wouldnt be suprised to see it around the £1500 mark, maybe more?????
kookimonsta Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Pah not worth nothing ... givesya fifty nicker for it if i must lol. If its a propper 350 then £1500 easy pushing the 2k-3k depending on how good it is. post a couple of piccys. Prices have dropped in the last year or so but theres still demand for them.
daywalker Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 Really? Well seems like a garage clearout is needed. Maybe I can get another 90s GSXR out of all my old yamaha two stroke obsession. Might sort out some LC pics today.
