jezz Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Just wondered if anyone has ever tried to fit carbs to a Triumph 955i before. Anyone any ideas what would fit, and how to go about getting the blighter to run? Thinking of alternatives to the 1) crappy SAGEM FI on the early 955i's; and 2) expensive later Keihan FI on later 955 and 1050's PLUS of course carbs look SOOOOOoooooooo good, and I might get a smidge more power! Come on chaps, someone must have tried it?
fran9r Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I like your style sir. The engines are very similar to the carbed setup on all the first Hinckley trumpets, so a kit for them should fit. Go on, FCRs are calling.

Kayla Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Many people seem to prefer the fueling of carbs over fi, citing less electronic rubbish cluttering up a perfectly good motorcycle. Fixed for you
hoona6 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Have you considered a Tuneboy ? I got one for my Daytona 955 and haven't really delved very deeply yet as have more basic things to sort but the potential is huge. Just a few basic tweeks has massively improved fuelling over a stock Triumph map. It has the following features:- Modify the fuel map via a fuel trim table Modify the ignition map Change the rev limit Change the thermo fan settings Modify air fuel targets used in the ECU Change the idle speed Change warm up fuel for cold starting Diagnose faults Run ECU test procedures Modify fuel mapping using a DynoJet tuning link Change when the ECU uses the O2 sensor for closed loop mode Data log information I got mine through a Group Buy on Triumph675.net Woth investigating maybe? That said, carbs are ace
jezz Posted May 15, 2010 Author Report Posted May 15, 2010 Hi Hoona, Yes I have considered the tuneboy, its on my list of purchases if I do go down the injection route. But as you say.... carbs are ace!
