Paint matching

Anybody got any tips on matching Honda Silver? My Dad has just touched up a scrape on his Silver Transalp using an aerosol from RS paints which matched the Honda paint code. The new paint seems very flat and lacks the pearlescent effect of the original. End result is it looks rubbish. Is that likely to be a poor paint match or is there likely to be a particular undercoat that gives the pearlescent effect?

Millerich - pearl paints are normally done in three stages. First a base coat which provides the colour, then a layer of clear pearl over that, finally a layer of laquer to give the shine.

Did you lacquer over the paint after you'd put it on?

Ardgowanhouse - and car paint place should be able to match the paint for you, and put it in an aerosol if thats what you want.

Yes it did get lacquered afterwards and the paint came from RS paints and was as per the paint code.

Did you spray it when it was damp? You could have bloom in the paint.
