hey everyone any info much appreciated, bought a 91 ZXR 750R K1 last month and not sure if the single seat on it is a copy replacement to go on the J model, as its made from fibreglass and the last 2 bolts that hold it to the tank are out of line and dont match up. i can find a copy single seat unit on e bay but it just says 91-93 model, but im not sure if i need a specific fit for the aluminium sub-framed k1 model.....Please help

fwiw the single seat units on the zxr400-sp were fibreglass not plastic, and use fasteners rather than lugs to attach to the tank, so it could well be an OE seat.

thanks but theres no lugs on this one just holes for fasteners, and there about 10mm too low to match the threads on the tank which is different to a standard zxr 750 of same year so it could be off the 400. Anyone seen what a zxr750rr single seat is made of though????

I'm sure they were fiberglass as being one piece it would have been much too expensive to injection mould, the m was 3 piece.

It's been a good fifteen years since I had mine but the K seat unit had a hole on either side at the front that had grommets and a screw that went into threads on the ali tank so was not compatible with the road going steel tank.

Not sure if any of that helps.

Just had a butchers at the seat unit on my K1 and it's one piece injection moulded.

Looks expensive.

Beginning to wonder if I should have track day'd it so much this year !

Kawasaki want nearly £1400+VAT for the seat unit, my K1 will be sticking with it's fibreglass unit.

Yes, I only noticed it wasn't original when I took it off and looked on the inside. At push the opening that holds the seatpad isn't as sharp as an original but you can't tell with the seatpad fitted. It's not marked up who made it but found this on ebay which might be of interest.

Bit of a shame these guys don't do seat units/sidepanels, included for reference.

Good luck with the hunt mate
